Patient and Public Involvement
Patient-Friendly. Patient-Focused. Patient-Led.
Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) activities are key in our aim to achieve this. PPI engagement is the cornerstone to any successful research study. Interacting with patients, carers, researchers, community leaders, and members of the public enables us to gain a better understanding of the lives of those living with PD and PSP. Our research is led with the goal to address the various needs of all these stakeholders and ensure that, in our work, their voices are the loudest.
To help us perform our research with patient needs front and centre, we established an OxQUIP PPI Advisory Group (OxPAG) composed of researchers, study participants, carers, and members of the public. OxPAG is designed to contribute to the study in a variety of ways:
The primary ethos of OxQUIP is to undertake research that supports and serves those affected by the problems we are trying to solve.
Partake in pilot studies to test protocols and contribute to the collection of research data.
Review publications and research material so that it is reader-friendly and easily understand by the lay person.
Guide research protocols and methodologies to ensure they are patient-friendly and appropriate for clinical practice.
Highlight the needs and desires of stakeholders to produce a roadmap for PPI activities and engagement to be followed throughout the study.
Promote the dissemination of research material through public engagement events organised in conjunction with OxQUIP.
Our advisory group is still in its infancy but we look forward to updating you with our work and various PPI activities and events. If you would like to be involved, please fill out the form at the bottom of the page!
Our commitment to equality, diversity & inclusion
We are dedicated to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion in our research. We support and work with all individuals regardless of sex, gender, age, ethnicity, sexual orientation, disability, socioeconomic status, and faith.
To truly perform research that is holistic and reaches every single individual, it must include the work and perspectives of individuals from all backgrounds and walks of life. OxQUIP is currently working on an EDI strategy to ensure our research and is equitable and inclusive, and we look forward to sharing it with you in due course.
